No one would expect to read an entire New York Times article on Facebook. If you want to read it, you have to click through and visit the website of the New York Times. I don’t understand why it is expected of photographers and other visual artists to share their work directly on these platforms – and grant these sites a broad license to use it along with it.
Don’t upload your work there. Create your own website/blog. Post links to your original content on social media. Don’t create an online presence solely on social media – it’ll all eventually go away (see Google+), and then what’s left?
And as a user: please click through. Visit the site. This is “the web” that’s worth saving – not the centralized walled gardens of social media sites. Thanks.
