An old photo from 2008 that I recently rediscovered and newly interpreted in black & white. The birch trees’ trunks were illuminated by direct sunlight and stood in stark contrast to the approaching dark clouds in the background:
I miss moor and heathland. There’s nothing like it here in Southern California. The coastal lagoons (where freshwater from creeks forms some boggy tidal swamp areas) are perhaps the closest thing, but they lack the quiet and solitude of the remote areas that I used to visit in Bavaria and Austria.
